The Best Show on HBO: Game of Thrones
Not True Blood, not Boardwalk Empire, not Treme-mock my words, this will be the flagship show for HBO. After having finished the first season, I immediately realized it had all the great components of an epic show-the loose grand conflict that tie all the characters together, multiple interesting subplots and good actors that convey character development better every episode. Also crucial is the anticipation factor-I absolutely cannot wait for season 2, and I thought I was relatively excited about Boardwalk Empire's season 2.
If you get a four day weekend with your lady and you both happen to love great shows/movies, mark this as number one on your list and get to it. Spread out the ten hours worth of episodes over delicious meals and safe hunching, because that is one of the few perks in the path of misery we call adulthood.

I agree with you on Game of Thrones! But Boardwalk Empire is eaqually great. It deliberately goes of the course of usual american series and builds up on different grounds. The action is slower than GOTh but that's just because the type of show it is, is different. But the story lines are perfect! that's in my opinion. Plus they knew how to re-create 1920-21 without making you feel like you're watching a documentary. You end up forgetting you're watching 90-year-old events. And the soundtrack, like in GOTh, is premium!
ReplyDeleteAs for Treme, I couldn't make myself watch through the whole first season. I just couldn't.
Anw I salute you're choice in series.
