Marijuana Does Not Cause Erectile Dysfunction

"It would make sense that since other drugs have an impact on sexual functioning pot may as well. However, according to one large study involving 4,350 men who were screened for the use of pot and its sexual effects, “The authors report no link between frequency of cannabis use and trouble keeping an erection.” As many studies have failed to find an association between pot smoking and sexual problems, there have been studies that have tried to prove the reverse. Indeed, in 1970, one researcher study concluded ”cannabis use intensified sexual arousal, increased sexual thoughts, and prolonged sexual performance.” Does pot make you a better lover? Well, in the 70′s there was research trying to prove it might. Since pot is a mind-altering drug, some people could very well enjoy sex more while stoned.
The problem with most of the research was that it was based on self-reports. Most of the studies were small and involved animals not humans. There is no way to determine whether the specific cause for erectile dysfunction alone is smoking pot or because of myriad other reasons. Basically what the researchers concluded was after looking at all of the evidence, most of the studies suggest that pot does not cause erectile dysfunction."
