Head to Toe-Daniel Lieberman tracks the evolution of the human head.



“We can tie forces in biomechanics and function to development and anatomy. And ultimately, to evolution,” he explains, because skeletons have changed. “We can’t measure how an australopithecine or Homo habilis or Homo erectus behaved, but the same principles of biomechanics and Newtonian physics apply to them and us, so we can estimate the bite force of Homo erectus by testing a model in Homo sapiens.”
