4) toy story 3
3) buried
2) Brooklyn's finest
1) kick ass

Top 5 movies of 2010 that I wish I didn't see
5) due date- didn't really meet my expectations of the duo it had
4) clash of the titans- alotta flash with not so much story, the original was better
3) wall street 2- great acting but predictable and lack of story with cheap ties to the original, Which was better, greed is good
2) grown ups- all star line up can only carry the movie so much before it becomes semi-boring
1) the other guys- couldn't wait to see this movie bc of the line up but man was it disappointment, it was barely funny, some really good jokes at times but all together a mess, I wanted to like it but couldn't

Top 10 movies of 2010
10) machete- funny sexy and extreme, was entertaining from bell to bell. Def exceeded my expectations in many aspects

9) get him to the Greek- just a good comedy movie with a lot of originality

8) dinner for schmucks- two comedy heavy weights beasting, the awkward moments alone were worth the price of admission.

7) youth in revolt- very well rounded comedy flick, hilarious at times, overall funny for most of the movie, another over achiever as far as expectations

6) hot tub time machine- great premise for a movie and done well, down right hilarious at times

5) social network- simple movie idea dealing with a topic we can all get into, main character's douche bag comments are funny as hell, great story overall dealing with the social, economical, personal, and complicated word of starting a business.

4) the town- good story, good acting, good acting

3) shutter island- mind twisting story with awesome acting, talked about this movie for days after seeing it.

2) book of Eli- Denzel, come on now, and Mila Kunis isn't exactly a chore to look at. Everything about this movie is awesome from the action to the story to the ending to the cinematography.

1) inception- this is steps above every other movie, straight mind fuck in every way for 2 hours, this movie was worth $10 and worth a DVD purchase and worth a conversation with any one you know about what you thought.

Honorable mention: tron:legacy- listed here because it's not out yet, but it's got all of the makings of being in this list, the first one was my steez, and this one has the backing of Joseph Kosinski, who proved his unique visionary approach as a commercial director on campaigns such as Halo, Gears of War and Nike and the writers of lost, should be a banger.

rmunim

1. Inception (what a cool concept and story-and an awesome hanger of an ending; special effects were bananas. Nothing else needs to be said about this movie, it is the clear cut numero uno)
2. Shutter Island (You've got to love Scorsese applying his brilliance to a new genre; I know everyone else was hesitant to put Leo at 1 and 2 but you can't deny the products)
3. My Name is Khan (heart touching story-I highly recommend you guys at least peep the trailer if you somewhat respect my opinion. That is all I will say.)

4. Dinner for Schmucks (It is truly the side characters that make this movie go from good to great)
5. Kick Ass (the best surprise of the year-I had lower expectations and it completely impressed me-looking forward to the sequel)
6. Get Him to the Greek (if it had as many good side characters as Dinner for Schmucks it would be right behind it)
7. Book of Eli (I liked how it reveals the story so well throughout the movie and the ending was G)
8. Despicable Me (awesome family movie, I wish I had my own set of Minions)
9. The Town (Good story, but there were too many dry parts that did not contribute to the story development)
10. Iron Man 2 (It's number ten because it's not as funny as the rest of the movies nor does it have as much substance-but I will admit I am impressed by special effects)

  1. Sorry guys but Shutter island blew ass. The most predictable movie ever! And Kick-Ass at number 1? LMAO when was the last time u went to the theater Billy?

  2. The devil made someones list? LMFAO m knight shyamalan blows ass the only thing that was good about the movie was the cinematography. Other then that shit was predictable and tossed salads

  3. Glad not to see youth in revolt up in rash's list that movie blew more assholes than ben Afflecks wack ass attempt at a story (The Town). The heists were cool in the town but other than that Movie tossed major Salads

  4. Points to agree with el Wood: No offense Rey, but I just peeped Devil last night and I would never ever recommend that to someone. It was awful. Cinematography was decent.

Points to disagree with: Alright fam, so what if Shutter island was "predictable?" Does that take away from the awesome cinematography and the badass transition from you subconsciously supporting Leo and the inquiries he is making to realizing that he may be crazy himself and you question everything you thought the first half of the movie? That's a negative ghostrider. Sure you could have predicted it but that doesn't take away from the art of storytelling (no slick rick). Acting was on point in the movie too, and that's sort of important.

Points I'll meet you halfway on: like I said on the list, good directors make sure all parts contribute to a whole, but there were a solid 25 mins of "The Town" that didn't contribute to the story. It cracked my list honestly because I didn't see that many movies this year (and this is the same reason Iron Man 2 made the list)-and yea the bank heist scenes were cool but I disagreed with the main premise of the movie from jumpstreet (him building an extensive relationship with a chick he robbed-how in the world can you be a professional bank robber and pull that card out your anus). With that said, I wouldn't say the movie blew ass-it certainly did not live up to its potential, and was decent.

BTW Wood, you're a movie connoisseur, but in all three comments you used "blew ass" to describe the movie you disagreed with. Also, Kick Ass was on Billy's top movies he WISHED he saw. Round 2, let's begin.

  5. Shutter island did have a good cast and probably one of the best scenes of the year (Leo and Jackie Earle Haley). Other then that Im going to go ahead and say its Martin Scorsese's worst film. I wasn't intrigued by the story and predicted the outcome within the first 10 seconds of the trailer, no exaggerations, true story.

The Town was OK at best. Ben Affleck has no talent for telling a story (yea fucker wrote the movie). But I can definitely say it had the best supporting actor thus far for 2010. But I found it hard to get into. It was dry and having to put up with Affleck the whole movie didn't help its cause. And now the movie has been nominated for best movie of the year? lmfao

And lol to Billy's top movies Wish he saw. I assumed Billy's actual list was mahdi's list for some reason.

And how was Dinner For Schmucks funnier than Get him to The Greek?

And forgive a nigga on the blowing ass comments just popped someone's 2 girls and 1 cup cherry.

  6. Well said sir. Agree to disagree on Shutter Island, because I guess we stand on different sides of the street when it comes to predictability.
I'm not gonna put my credibility on the line for Ben Affleck. He also adapted the story from a novel, so your beef might somewhat be with the original work. It was a bit dry, and in no way does this movie deserve to be nominated for best movie of the year. I put the movie on my list mainly because of the potential-imagine what a good director could have done with it.
Dinner for Schmucks is funnier than Get him to the Greek because although both comedies are based on two lead characters driving it, the previous has far more memorable side characters that outweigh Sergio. Both have feel good endings as well. By no means am I saying that Dinner for Schmucks is significantly better-I have them at 4 and 6 respectively and I completely understand if someone gives the edge to Get him to the Greek, but both are close in terms of comedic caliber.
And Jonah Hill's my boy too Rey.

  7. Oh, btw Woody, that's how you break the ice at a party-by introducing people to 2 girls 1 cup? So taking them to the fetish party had to be 1 up'd huh?

    Memories.

  8. man not everyones top 10 list can consist of the Twilight saga woody. The Town was based on a book and followed the story, Devil was decent but def wanted more from the movie, and I cant respond to such hating on Shutter Island, predictable or not that movie was good.

    ReplyDelete
  9. man, let me put in my two.. I know i was gonna catch shit for devil, lol, but me and my girl liked it, my list was on memorable, even tho the story wasnt great and was predictable, i can remember it more than alot of other movies on the list, stood out. fuck yall, i needed money for atari.. anyway, cant believe billy talkin shit bout other guys, Gator ain never been about that shit, thats good shit dude.. i cant belive niggas got the TOwn on their, that shit was boring, bunch of half guido, half wigger ass dudes robin banks and makin the fbi look like beat cops, shit was wack. shutter island was good, but not how u guys are saying it out to be, I dont care about names, so it being a scorsesi flick, i dont give a shit. FUck that nigga, he ain never did shit for me ya dig.. Now i will say that youth in revolt was coo, but i thought it was 2009, if not it prolly would have took devil off my list. Cmon rash, Iron man 2? that shit was boring, cheadle was dry and boring as shit. and dude put Scot pilgram joint, that movies was horrible, utter shit. MAchete? shit, i like silly shit as much as the next, but .. i duno.. didnt have as much ass in it as i was expectin.. i gotta peep that kahn joint rash, cant find a good hard encoded subtitle joint.. havent looked too hard, the trailer look good, is dude slow?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Appreciate the input Rey. I'll respond regarding only movies I've seen.

I regret putting iron man 2 on the list-I just watched the social network and that should have been top five. I know it's a good movie when I don't realize how much time has gone by. And that movie had no "action", it was completely dialogue driven.

LOL Scorsese is one of the greatest directors of the last thirty years. With that said I get that you are saying "just because this accredited person produced it doesnt mean anything, the quality of the product is the final verdict." Agreed-I mentioned his name because he's known for always tackling close to the same topics, and he chose something completely out of his comfort zone and still did a very good job.

Just download the subtitles separately for My Name is Khan (it'll be a .srt file); then put the that file in the same folder as the movie, and make sure both the subtitle and movie are titled exactly the same "MNIK.avi"/"MNIK.srt") namean. Then use vlc media player, it's the best player to watch movies anyways.
And regarding My Name is Khan-dude has asperger's syndrome; it's a condition where the part of your brain that recognizes facial expressions is misplaced (and is relocated to the same place where you analyze inanimate objects)-so such people are severely depleted in terms of being able to comprehend human emotion, as they are depleted in conveying human emotion as well. They usually have a blank face. They don't understand jokes, crying, yelling, etc. Awesome movie man.

    ReplyDelete
  11. and for the subtitles: you can just google it man, there are a million sites up that provide free subtitles.

    ReplyDelete
  12. lol, yeah i know bout aspergers, it was more of a joke.haha.. but yeah, i know bout srt files but i dont like to watch movies on vlc, or my computer at that. I need to burn em, i know its a waste of dvds cuz i end up tossin alot of em, but its more comfortable in the living room ya dig..
Didnt like social network, but watched TRON last night and it was pretty dope, never watched the first one so cant compare..
