On a somewhat serious note, I've dabbled with wanting to write a screenplay for the longest time man. I finally started studying up on it, and the first thing I realized was-holy s**t, our dialogue changes constantly! For example-say I were to put the school bus story (read a few articles back if you haven't read it) in the screenplay-the way the humor would be driven across to the audience would be 20% of the action and 80% dialogue. And we did not talk this way when we were 13 years old. Different slang, different syntax, smaller grasp on vocabulary.... Any proposed solutions with the problem above are much appreciated.
For the dialogue you gotta pick a tone and stick with it throughout the screenplay. It's not tough to remember how you talked and the way you acted, just requires some thought...
I dunno if I feel the same way man, because my style of humor was not refined till the better parts of humor-it lacked sophistication for the better until probably 10th grade. So I can't put witty one liners or well developed jokes on a scene like the one I described in my school bus story.
Speaking of which-Moe, I KNOW you got school bus stories-where its at where its at?!
There should be a top 10 Moe quotes and sayings.
ReplyDeleteI've realized that I'm filled with one liners and stupid sayings.
LMAO yea I'll vouch for that!
