This is a new low for the route to fame.

Now that 'Teen Mom' cast members like Amber Portwood are in their twenties, MTV is looking for a new crop of teenage girls to keep its monster hits 'Teen Mom' and '16 and Pregnant' alive, and [surprise!] industry insiders tell me young ladies are so eager to be on reality TV that they are actually getting pregnant just to score an audition. OK, not much of a surprise. Simply take a spin around the various Internet forums filled with young girls inquiring about what's required to score a role.

I am sort of surprised, though I guess I shouldn't be. Do you guys blame the show itself (if you think it glorifies teen pregnancy) or severely disillusioned girls for this style of thinking?

I'll voice my opinion in the comments section after some responses.

  1. Since this the only show that MTV plays any more I've found myself in the midst of a marathon or two. No homo. With that said the show seems to make it very clear how much pregnancy is not easy and how it pretty much puts all of your goals on hold and how it's something that only people who are established and in serious and healthy relationships should even venture into. Every girls story is seemingly the same, usually can't finish hs because of the amount of time they miss, usually getting ripped by their own parents bc of the fact they have made some poor choices, the stress of raising a child when you yourself are actually a child, and doing everything pretty much on their own because of no guy under the age of 25 is really ready for a child. Who would throw their hat into that race? If they want to be famous for some dumb shit they might as well just get into porn, it's prolly an easy route and the fame and money will last longer......::: all saying is if I could get famous because MTV started a show about dudes who have dicks tattooed on their face, I don't think I'd be trying out for the next season any time soon.

  2. Very good points sir. In regards to your hilarious comparison of "dick tattoos on the face"-does there seem to be no low as to the amount of dignity and common sense people will sacrifice for a taste of fame?

Agreed that the show does a solid job of showing the hardship of pregnancy-so then how are these stupid 16 year girls that are obviously fans of this show STILL willing to consider being pregnant just to be another list of many on the show? They purposely want to repeat the cycle for the sake of some face recognition? It's sickening.
