To the people that still believe

Photobucket

I would like to say a few words about Glenn Beck. I am a woman of reason. (I know, people are going, wow, "woman" and "reason" in the same sentence, that's so ironic! I am the exception to the rule.)

Back to the subject, when I hear someone speak their opinion, I like to know who they are and why they are saying this. So, in short, my reasoning when hearing someone speak. "Who the hell let you talk and Why are you talking?"

Ima just drop the bomb. Glenn Beck has no political background whatsoever. In fact, he doesn't have an education past high school. He took a class at Yale University and everyone thinks he graduated from there. No, he doesn't even have a degree! He likes to describe himself as conservative with libertarian teachings. Well, from his background and how he was raised, he was raised predominantly Christian. So, even though, throughout his life he was a substance abuser, an alcoholic, and has divorced twice, those don't qualify as "libertarian teachings." Smoking weed doesn't give you a pass on the other side of the political spectrum. So, what I am getting at is "Glen Beck, don't think you are unbiased. You are just an alcoholic stoner that's causing a cult."

I know what you are thinking. Well, "Miss Behshied Mashhoon, who the f are you to rant about politics!" You are absolutely correct. But I'm not a preacher and he is. I just find when Glenn Beck is giving me advice on how American should be, my answer is where he should put it.

How did he begin?

While he was disc-jocking, he gave his opinion and it has increased his popularity because he marketed to conservatives. His net worth is approximately 10 million dollars now from his popularity! This is unreal!

What blows my mind and I'm sure is his absurd opinions... Let's take his view point on Global Warming. He believes that global warming is not true --> see article This outrages me. First of all, he thinks that Global Warming doesn't exist, and second, he believes that social democrats are the ones causing the uproar regarding the fallacy of global warming. He thinks that democrats just want to waste money to fund scientists in researching it!

Okay... I hope I don't have to analyze that portion for you! But I'm sitting right now in Southern California, and it's cold for summer. There is plenty of research that says global warming exists.

We are taking the opinion of a man that has no background in 1. politics and 2. in environment/science ! And people listen to him and believe this crap!

He is giving his opinion. When you place an opinion, you are placing an anecdote, which doesn't necessarily means that it is true.

In my eyes, he is just an entertainer and what he says, holds no substance. So, my question is: When did America stop believing in America and start believing in someone like this?

4 comments:

  1. 1. He is a Mormon.

    2. He appeals to the uneducated conservative American. Thus, you can't have an education and appeal to those people.

    3. What best way to get an uproar then to say "the Lord Jesus Christ said so..."

Lastly, GETTING COIN IS THE GOAL, RELIGION IS THE MEANS.

  2. Couldn't agree more with the capitalized sentiment, especially how it is being used in this country. How is it that we are one of the most developed nations on earth, and we take religion far too literally in this country? Citizens of the vatican are nowhere as passionate about mixing Christianity and politics as we are....where is the practice of the fundamental "separation of church and state?" Sorry for going off on a tangent, this article is about Glenn Beck, and we appreciate your input Sheed!

"In my eyes, he is just an entertainer and what he says, holds no substance."-standing ovation! This is EXACTLY what I have been saying. Everyone pays attention to any imbecile that has a loud mic and can scream louder than everyone else. Rest assured, I doubt he himself believes half of what he says, he says it to garner more fans by appealing to their fears. Fears of the unknown (ie Islam, global warming), and fears of a new political administration where the leader is an African American (thus the smear campaign on him continuously-where was the smear campaign when the president was your cookie cutter Caucasian American?). His rallies, cries, protests, do little to actually propose solutions, and do everything to take the average uneducated American's fears to new highs. All while he gains more sponsorships and sells more books because ignorance breeds ignorance and the breeders' association flock to someone with a minimally educated background to photocopy his opinions.

Sheed, your question of "when did America start believing in someone like this" is the same question I ask myself everyday. The America I started to experience when I moved to this country in 1995 is not the same America at all currently. Sounds like another great article...
