Court bans government funding of stem cell research.

"...Scientists described the order by a federal judge in Washington, who said that the president had overstepped a law barring the government funding of research in which human embryos are destroyed, as "deplorable" and "a serious setback" in the search for cures to major diseases..."

This one confuses me. Stem cell research has the potential to cure many diseases. These stem cell lines are never going to be developed into babies. To obtain the stem cells, it can easily be done in the laboratory, without having to get a female pregnant and abort the kid. This is really holding science and discovery back.

  2. You beat me to the punch Moe, I was gonna post this today. Good stuff though fam.

I am going to sum up what's wrong with this scenario with some inequalities. I am setting the inequalities to be what I believe, and in each case the opposite of the inequality is the one that is supported by these lawmakers and supporters.

CURING (not merely treating the symptoms of) diabetes, especially type I diabetes which is an autoimmune disorder where the body kills its own insulin producing cells >>>>>>>> bickering over stem cell research

Stimulating scientific growth, job growth, and indirectly stimulating the economy by funding for new technology which CURES diseases >>>> holding onto fickle hypocritical religious beliefs which are not actually religious beliefs but fear tactics used by politicians in order to garner maximum votes from the uninformed public (and the uninformed which translates to ignorant grows by the masses yearly)

Finding CURES for diseases >>>> depending on pharmaceuticals that help prolong life and alleviate symptoms

The importance of being globally competitive in science >>>>> precious votes (Sweden, Japan, and India, just to name a few, are doing their best rendition of Nelson as we speak)

Last one (I can't believe it has come to this): stem cell research regulation freedom under the Bush regime >>> stem cell regulation freedom under Obama regime (though I give Barack props, he did lift these crazy restrictions on stem cell research, but too bad his actions just became undone)

Rey-spread the knowledge fam! You a real dude so that womb you came from harbored some realness!

  3. The biggest issue is how they obtain the stem cells, which was by getting permission from mothers who were about to abort they're babies and getting the stem cells from them. It's a brutal process, but if given permission to make stem cells, we can easily fertilize the egg and grow the embryo in the laboratory, however we'd have to stop it at an early stage to obtain the stem cells...i believe this is how it would be done. Regardless, stem cells are the future and we're just prolonging the inevitable.
